Choosing dementia care
Making the decision to put a relative into care is a difficult one for most people, perhaps even more so when it’s a relative living with dementia.
If you want to find out more about how the dementia services being developed at the St Monica Trust can support you in planning long term dementia care for a relative, our teams at the St Monica Trust are happy to talk. You are welcome to attend informal coffee mornings and open days at The Russets where we welcome small groups of potential relatives and residents in a relaxed environment and where you can discuss your needs and experience the surroundings and facilities. The Russets is also able to provide respite care, periods of short term care which may support you in making a decision.
The Russets is designed to provide specialist care and support for people with all types of dementia, including complex dementia, and is particularly suited to support the needs of people who remain active and mobile. Families and relatives of new residents at all St Monica Trust dementia care facilities are asked to provide a life history of their relative, which the care and support teams can use to create a personal preference profile and understand how best to support the needs of each individual.
